The evening is celebrating Word Up's partnership with the Stichting Unwanted Words Project and will feature an amazing line up of international and local artists, as well as an open mic session for anyone who feels inspired to share some words.

In addition to the performances, Word Up Amsterdam is a place for creatives and enthusiasts to come together as a community and connect.

The theme for this edition of Word Up is WANTED - exploring the profound topics of belonging and a sense of freedom. Through diverse voices and perspectives, we delve into the intricate balance between the human desire to be part of a community and the individual quest for personal freedom. WANTED edition invites you to reflect on these universal experiences, offering a platform to express and share stories that resonate with our shared and unique journeys.

Vincent on Friday - DREAMS - Word Up Showcase - May 31, 2024

It was an enchanting evening at the Van Gogh Museum to celebrate the creativity and spoken word poetry of amazing artists of the Word Up platform curated by Paradiso.

In homage to Jo Bonger, the showcase featured a lineup of exceptionally talented female poets & performers.

Word Up Pages is a publication featuring poets, writers and creativity enthusiasts.
This event marks volume 2 of the Word Up Pages publication that is a creative, independent publication that allows artists to experiment with new mediums and share their work with a bigger audience.

Word Up Amsterdam for a cozy evening of spoken word on Tuesday, September 12th in DIP (Tuesdays in Paradiso). The evening featured an amazing lineup of international and local artists, as well as an open mic session for anyone who feels inspired to share some words.

We miss seeing you in person but we are also super excited to have had this season full of partnerships highlighting amazing partner organization - Omek.

Join us and a roster of readers for another evening of powerful words and great vibes in collaboration with the Change Hackers and their presentation of the Slow Thought Movement! Scheduled guests read, then everyone is invited to join in the open mic.

AND we are back with the new edition in cooperation with Envitalyfe, organization that is focusing on making environmental issues mainstream with truth, transparency and education. We will be inviting artists to sign up for this edition and especially curate poetry on the topic of climate change, climate justice, or environmental justice.

This project has been in the works for a while as it is an international cooperation, part of the Superheroes of Slam platform.
That means that the winner of Word Up Slam will compete for the Superheroes of Slam title in Berlin!

Word Up is back to kick of the new season together with Unwanted Words Project to showcase the winners of the 1st Queer & Feminist Poetry Awards.
Unwanted Words is a platform for up & coming queer spoken word artists based in Rotterdam. This year, they are organizing the 1st Queer & Feminist Poetry Awards next Sunday September 27th. The winners of this edition will have a special virtual showcase at the next Word Up event.
